CIAT (Centro Internacional de Agricultura Tropical) is seeking to appoint a post-doctoral scientist for a two-year contract with a possible extension to three.
The position requires a person with a Ph.D. in pathology with emphasis on genetics and considerable field experience. Be part of a project team and collaborate with breeder in development of genotypes resistant to important fungal and bacterial diseases of common bean. Apply molecular techniques to the analysis of pathotype variation and host-pathogen co-evolution. Contribute to breeding strategies for stable resistance that incorporate pyramiding of resistance genes and the use of marker assisted selection. Skills are required in statistics, writing projects and journal articles, project management, teamwork with colleagues in CIAT and in national programs, and communication in English.
Fluency in Spanish desirable. Salary and conditions will be internationally competitive.
